Art Shift: The end credits show the episode's events in a different, "classic Disney" visual style, with soft, round designs instead of the show's usual angular ones.

Pokémon Speak: Subverted. It seems like the Wendigo can only say "Wendigo", but it's actually saying "When'd He Go?" because it's The Ghost of Christmas Past looking for Scrooge. Even though it's not a Hallmark movie, I watch The Spirit of Christmas every year. It's so enjoyable! The acting is great, the story is fresh, and the setting is very festive. Crazy Jealous Guy: The Ghost of Christmas Past is a non-romantic example. He grew tired of all the people he taught a lesson no longer needing him, and traps Scrooge in the distant past so that they will be together forever.

Of the lengthier tales, it was only ‘Madness In A Coruña’ that captivated me with a traditional ‘gather round the fireplace’ ghostly tale of a forty-something divorced academic travelling to see an old university acquaintance in Spain and indulging in good food, wine and hopefully music. This brought to mind the work of M.R. James and was a notable highlight. Meanwhile ‘A Christmas Carole’ is a predictable story of a curmudgeonly landlady finally discovering some Christmas cheer. Disproportionate Retribution: Young Della refuses to cut Young Donald and Dewey out of the net even while the Wendigo is almost upon them, all because Donald called her "Dumbella". Downplayed in that the actual reason for this was that she wanted to hear an apology for her brother hiding himself away rather than being with his sister on Christmas. Born to wealthy parents, she was forced to marry a young nobleman. After having 2 children she convinced him that they should live as brother and sister. Their 2 children died some time later and they agreed to give their possessions to the poor and the church. They traveled as well to many far away places doing good works along the way. She ultimately became a nun at the Mt. of Olives in Jerusalem. Blame Game: When Scrooge furiously asks who put up the giant Santa animatronic, everyone points at Louie while Louie points at Huey.

Big "NO!": Scrooge confesses that he doesn't hate Christmas as much as he lets on, but when Dewey asked about Santa, he screeches out "NO!" and insults the man.

Tropes:

Explain, Explain... Oh, Crap!: Dewey realizes Della is mad at Donald for not spending Christmas with his family, and in the middle of explaining this realizes he's doing the same thing as Donald. Stealth Pun: Beakley, a secret agent, turns down the advances of the Ghost of Christmas Present, but aggressively pursues Christmas Future. Clearly, she flirts with death. I wasn’t sure going into this book how I would feel about it as I like strange, unusual stories, yet I don’t particularly enjoy far-fetched horror books and often short stories are a let down too as there is not being enough in them to grab hold of me. However, most were enjoyable in this collection, although I will say that for the title most are not very festive. Wendigo: Dewey, Donald and Della encounter one who is after Scrooge. They describe it as "poor souls turned into monsters by obsession and desperation", and it is portrayed resembling a muscular goat-man with Glowing Eyes of Doom, sharp teeth, clawed hands and three-toed theropod-like feet. It turns out to be the Ghost of Christmas Past, driven mad after Scrooge left him behind in the past. He gets better once Scrooge breaks through the creature's shell and reconciles with the spirit.
